The Oldest Plant on Planet Earth??! 👀
How one tiny organism is holding our ecosystem together
organiqs
Hello my organiq friends 👋
This week we’re diving into the sea to sea (😉) what seaweed really is about.
Why it’s a nutrient bomb and how to use it easily.
Let’s dive in.
Starter
🌎 The OG Plant
Have you ever thought about the oldest plant on planet Earth?
Neither did I - until I arrived in Japan.
And since it’s in nearly every dish (literally), there was no way around it.
Why do people eat it?
How long have we been eating it?
And is it more than just food?
FYI - I’m talking about the 1.6 Billion year old seaweed
The plant that’s been holding makis together, powering Japanese businessmen through the day, and quietly helping us breathe cleaner air.

🔋 The Power Plant

What is seaweed?
Seaweed is an edible algae that grows in oceans and coastal waters.
It’s been a daily food in Asian cultures for thousands of years.
Why do people eat it?
Because seaweed is one of nature’s oldest and most nutrient-dense foods.
It’s rich in iodine, magnesium, potassium, antioxidants and fiber.
Plus
Gram for gram, it delivers more micronutrients than most vegetables - with almost no calories. 👀
Why seaweed matters:
This tiny organism produces a huge part of the planet’s oxygen, absorbs excess carbon dioxide, and forms the base of the entire marine food chain.
Without it, oceans would collapse and everything else would follow.
Is it actually healthy?
Yes, in small and regular amounts.
Seaweed has been linked to:
Better thyroid function
Improved gut health
Reduced inflammation
Heart and metabolic support

Dad Joke of the Week
Why did the seaweed get promoted?
Because it was out-standing in its field!
A Deep Question
If something this nutritious grows without soil. fertilizer, or fresh water… what else could we be overlooking?
A Friendly Reminder
Seaweed has been quietly feeding humans for thousands of years - maybe it deserves a spot on your plate more than at shushi nights.
How did you like this week's menu? |
Thank you for being here 💝
Looking forward to serving you next week.
