Zinc

How people are taking it the wrong way

Hey, it’s Benji 👋

I’m sorry to tell you this:

You’re probably missing something that could completely change your life.

Better sleep. Better sex. Better health.

All from fixing this one little thing.

Here’s what it is. 👇

The Hidden Truth 🤔

Honestly, for the last 25 years of my life, I never really cared about this.

I’d only heard it mentioned a few times - in school, during blood tests, or from that one friend who was always sick (we all have that one). 🤒

But things changed recently.

I got curious, and after a few days of internet digging, I was shocked.

Billions of people are lacking this… yet nobody talks about it?

Why weren’t we taught about this in school?

Could it be something the pharma industry doesn’t want us to know? 👀

Here’s what I found. 👇

Main Course

Zinc 💊

What is zinc?

Zinc is an essential trace mineral. 💎

Tiny but mighty, it’s involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions in the body.

What does it do?

It works as a signaling molecule, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and even antiviral.

Should you take it?

Absolutely!!

Here is why:

Zinc can

  • boost wound healing ❤️‍🩹

  • reduce the duration and severeness of colds

  • fight acne and improve your skin

  • promote blood sugar regulation 🩸

  • improve heart health

  • help you grow 📈

  • enhance brain and immune function 🧠

  • decrease oxidative stress

  • improve sperm quality 👶

But what if you don’t get enough?

Well, then things could start getting ugly.

Symptoms of zinc deficiency include:

  • decreased immunity

  • hair loss 👨‍🦲

  • poor appetite

  • diarrhea 💩

  • decreased skin health

  • more mental health issues 😢

  • loss of taste and smell

In other words:

Zinc deficiency is no joke!

In fact, in 2004 zinc deficiency was responsible for 453,207 deaths of children under the age of 5.

How much do you need?

👉️ 7-20 mg/day

👉️ Up to 75-100 mg/day (split into doses) during colds or viral infections - but only short term (2 weeks max)

Which type is the best?

Zinc bisglycinate or gluconate

They’re highly bioavailable and high in elemental zinc.

The problems with zinc:

Too much of it can inhibit copper absorption.

Overdosing can cause the same symptoms as deficiency. 👀

How to test it:

If you don’t know if you are deficient in zinc, you have two options:

  1. The zinc taste test (if it tastes metallic → you’re good; if it tastes like nothing → you’re probably deficient)

  2. Blood work (the most accurate option)

👩‍🍳 Chef Tip: Pair zinc with vitamin A, B6, C, phosphorus, and magnesium for better absorption and next-level immunity. 🚀

8 Best Foods High in Zinc

If you want to boost your zinc naturally (and keep it clean + organic), here’s what you should eat:

  • 🦪 Oysters & Shellfish - the ultimate zinc bombs (nothing comes close)

  • 🐟 Fish & Seafood - especially crab and lobster

  • 🥩 Red Meat - beef, lamb, and liver

  • 🥛 Dairy - milk and cheese are underrated zinc carriers

  • 🥚 Eggs - simple, versatile, and always reliable

  • 🌱 Legumes - beans, chickpeas, lentils (but beware of phytic acids)

  • 🥜 Nuts - cashews, almonds, peanuts, and pine nuts

  • 🌻 Seeds - pumpkin and hemp seeds

My tip: Watch the combos!

Pairing zinc-rich foods with copper-heavy foods or high-phytate grains/legumes can reduce absorption.

A Deep Question

If you could let one thing go right now, what would bring the greatest relief?
